Designation of Local Geodiversity Sites is undertaken by Tayside Geodiversity. The group is made up of professional geologists, planners and countryside rangers, museum staff and enthusiastic amateurs.

The group has produced geology trail leaflets for Corsiehill Quarry, Kinnoull Hill near Perth and Seaton Cliffs, near Arbroath. It is working on two more: Dundee Law and Strathardle.
